On December 1, 2020, Bishop Paprocki issued an instruction to the the clergy and the people of the Diocese of Springfield-in-Illinois regarding the custom of giving blessings to those in the Communion Procession who do not receive Holy Communion. I discuss this instruction briefly in this coming week’s bulletin. The Instruction and the Catechesis which is given to explain the instruction further are linked below. The instruction is to go into effect on January 1, 2021 and in binding on clergy and extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion effective immediately. The parish guide for extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion will be updated to conform with this instruction before the next training cycle.
